Conserve Resources And Profit

Welcome to the world of C.R.A.P.

No, not that kind of C.R.A.P.

C.R.A.P. stands for Conserve Resources And Profit.

It is both an attitude and a call to action based on a simple idea:

Before you throw something away, take a second look.

Many of the things people call “junk” are actually resources that still have value. In fact, I often refer to such items as:

Conserved Resources Awaiting Purpose.

A C.R.A.P. Curator looks at the world a little differently. Instead of immediately seeing waste, a C.R.A.P. Curator sees possibility.

A C.R.A.P. Curator asks:

  • Can this be reused?
  • Can it be repaired?
  • Can it be repurposed?
  • Can it be recycled?
  • Can it be donated?
  • Can someone else use it?
  • Can it be sold and kept out of a landfill?

Sometimes C.R.A.P.-action means picking up deposit bottles along a roadside and returning them for recycling.

Sometimes it means finding a new home for an old book, toy, tool, collectible, or household item.

Sometimes it means turning clutter into cash.

Sometimes it simply means reducing waste and conserving resources.

Whatever form it takes, the goal is the same:

  • Conserve resources.
  • Reduce waste.
  • Create value.
  • Have a little fun along the way.

The C.R.A.P. philosophy is closely related to The Stewardship Way. Good stewards seek to understand and care for the resources entrusted to them. C.R.A.P. simply applies that thinking to the everyday stuff that passes through our lives.

After all, what one person calls junk may be another person’s treasure.

So before you throw something away…

Give C.R.A.P. a Chance.
